Kukrail Reserve Forest can be found in Indranagar near Shivpuri colony in Lucknow. The forest is a great place for sightseeing and seeing some wild animals including crocodiles. In fact, the forest serves as a breeding area for the endangered crocodiles. The female crocodile lays eggs on the river banks and these eggs then hatch in a period of 60 to 80 days. The idea to set up the centre at Kukrail to preserve crocodiles came up in 1978. The centre was funded by the Uttar Pradesh forest department in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forest.

Besides the crocodile, you can spot other species of animals including deer, and more specifically the sambar and the spotted dear. The sanctuary is also home to a large number of birds, both resident and migratory.

The forest is a great picnic spot and has on ground café, restaurants and rest places. There are also a number of parks with swings for the children.
