The St. John’s church in Meerut is known as the oldest church in North India. It was built as early as the19th century. It was originally built by the British army to fulfil the spiritual and religious needs of the British soldiers and officers posted in Meerut.
The church boasts of typical English style architecture and is surrounded by quaint and well-manicured lawns. It is regularly visited by locals and every Sunday an elaborate Sunday Service is especially held.
