Nagda, ఉదయపూర్

1

Nagda is a small town located at a distance of 23 km from Udaipur. It was established by the fourth Mewar king, Nagaditya, in the 6th century AD. During those times, it was known as Nagahrida and served as the capital of Mewar.

This small town is located on the banks of Bagela Lake, to the north-west of Udaipur on the way to Nathdwara, and is home to many temples. Among the temples located here, Sas-Bahu Temple, which dates back to the 10th century AD is the prime attraction.

The Jain Temple which is dedicated to the Jain Saint Shanti Nath is yet another attraction of the region. This temple is said to have been built during the reign of Rana Kumbha and houses a strange 9 feet high idol.
